Shortly after the release of the Samsung Galaxy S4, the internal storage space offered by the device had generated much controversy because it appears that the device does not offer users about 9 GB of the 16 GB available. Something that was not very dramatic as the Micro SD card may very well take over for storing media files. For cons, the lack of space was quickly felt when we started to install some necessary applications, and the memory was quickly saturated after installing some good games on the device.

A few weeks ago, Samsung has released an update to include some applications to move to the memory card (see our article on this subject: the first update of the Samsung Galaxy S4 to move applications to a memory card).

You can then sort your applications by size for better visibility

Yet moving application is not easy, because it turns out some files related to the application that can not be moved to the memory card. Indeed, if we take for example the case of the Amazon Kindle App application. Once the application is moved to the memory card, it also tried to move the e-book files on the card via a dedicated application, and it is the Samsung Galaxy S4 that cannot find the file just moved. Anyway, moving applications to the external memory card can save you so many GB of storage on your device.

Thus, to move an application, you must go first in “Settings.” Then you can press the tab “more” at the top right of the screen as you can see on the image captured below:

By tapping the “storage” menu, your Galaxy S4 calculate for a moment the memory used by your system, and the remaining memory. Once you have an idea of the remaining memory, you can press back and go to the application manager. You can then sort your applications by size for better visibility.

At this stage you can decide about the application you want to move. Once you press the application icon, you will see a button that will prompt you to move it to your memory card. If this button is grayed out, the application can not be run from your Micro SD card, otherwise you can move applications to the external storage card.
